Pasture-Raised Broiler Chickens
Our broiler chickens are on pasture as soon as they come out of the brooder at 2-4 weeks of age. They move to fresh grass daily in floorless 10′ x 12′ pasture shelters. They take full advantage of the opportunity to scratch for insects and devour the green foliage. We supplement their diet with a specially formulated grain ration that enables them to grow at a healthy rate. Our chickens are never given subtherapeutic doses of antibiotics.
Raising chickens on pasture is good for them and good for the land. They fit perfectly into our holistic method of farm management. The broilers prefer to forage on grass that has recently been grazed down by our cattle. As the chickens move across the field, they fertilize the land which provides abundant nutrients for future grass growth. This natural addition of nitrogen to the soil allows us to never require chemical inputs on our pastures.
Chefs throughout the Willamette Valley consistently give high praise to our chicken. The freshness and flavor of chicken raised on pasture is outstanding. We think you’ll agree.
